- Cream of mushroom soup
- Onion
- Milk
- French fried onions
- Cheese (cheddar or Parmesan optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- If using fresh green beans, blanch them in boiling water for about 4 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender. Drain and set aside. If using frozen, simply set them aside.
- In a large skillet, add a tablespoon of oil or butter over medium heat. Add diced onions and sauté until translucent and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sautéed onions, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Gently fold in the green beans until well coated with the creamy mixture.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Top the casserole with a generous layer of French fried onions. If using cheese, sprinkle it on top as well.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
