Description

This Garlic Butter Steak Flatbread Pizza combines savory steak and creamy mozzarella atop a crispy flatbread, creating an irresistible dish. Perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in, it’s a gourmet experience that’s easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lb flank steak (or sirloin)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 large flatbreads or naan (about 1012 inches)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the garlic butter. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter and add 4 minced garlic cloves. Stir occasionally for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as this will turn bitter.
  2. While the garlic is cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season 1 lb of flank steak with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder. Once the oil is hot, add the steak.
  3. Cook the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until a nice crust forms and the internal temperature reaches 130°F for medium-rare. Use a meat thermometer to ensure accuracy. Avoid crowding the pan, as this can steam the meat rather than sear it.
  4. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy result when sliced. While the steak rests, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. On a baking sheet, place the two flatbreads or naan. Brush a generous amount of the garlic butter over each piece. Spread 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top, followed by 1/2 cup of halved cherry tomatoes and 1/4 cup of thinly sliced red onions.
  6. Slice the rested steak against the grain into thin strips and distribute it evenly over the cheese and vegetables on the flatbreads.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Keep an eye on it to prevent over-browning.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired. Cut into slices and serve immediately while the cheese is still melty and the flatbread is crisp.

Keywords: Use unsalted butter for control over saltiness. Flank steak is recommended for tenderness, but sirloin is a great alternative. If you can't find flatbreads, pita bread or homemade dough can be used.
