  • Author: lila
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 10-12 skewers 1x

Description

These vibrant frozen grape and berry skewers are a refreshing summer snack, bursting with flavor and color. Dusted with a zesty mint lime sugar, they are easy to make and perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup green grapes, washed and stemmed
  • 1 cup red grapes, washed and stemmed
  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup blueberries, washed
  • 1 cup raspberries, washed
  • Wooden or bamboo skewers (about 10-12)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Start by washing all the fruits thoroughly under cold water. For the strawberries, remove the green tops and slice them in half. This should take about 5 minutes. Ensure everything is dry to help the sugar adhere later.
  2. Make the Mint Lime Sugar Dust: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, lime zest, finely chopped mint leaves, and a pinch of salt (if using). Use a fork to mix until well combined, about 1-2 minutes. The mixture should be fragrant and have a fine texture.
  3. Assemble the Skewers: Take a wooden or bamboo skewer and start threading the fruit. Alternate between green grapes, red grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Aim for a colorful pattern and fill each skewer with about 4-5 pieces of fruit, leaving a bit of space at the ends for handling. This step should take around 10 minutes.
  4. Freeze the Skewers: Once assembled, lay the skewers flat on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or until the fruit is fully frozen. Check after 1 hour; the grapes and berries should be firm and icy to the touch.
  5. Coat in Mint Lime Sugar Dust: After freezing, remove the skewers from the freezer and immediately roll them in the mint lime sugar dust. Make sure to coat them evenly for maximum flavor. Serve right away for the best texture, or return them to the freezer for up to 30 minutes if not serving immediately.
