Description
This Chicken Sausage and Broccoli Orzo is a quick and easy meal that’s packed with flavor and nutrition. Perfect for busy weeknights, this one-pot dish combines savory chicken sausage, vibrant broccoli, and tender orzo pasta.
Ingredients
- Pre-cooked chicken sausage
- Orzo pasta
- Fresh broccoli florets
- Low-sodium chicken broth
- Parmesan cheese
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Start by chopping the chicken sausage into bite-sized pieces. Rinse and cut the broccoli into florets, and measure out the orzo.
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the orzo and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped chicken sausage and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until browned and heated through.
- Toss in the broccoli florets and continue to sauté for another 3-5 minutes. If needed, you can add a splash of water to help steam the broccoli and soften it.
- Add the cooked orzo to the skillet with the sausage and broccoli. Pour in the chicken broth and stir well to combine. Let everything simmer together for about 2-3 minutes.
- Season with salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat if desired. Remove from heat, stir in the Parmesan cheese, and serve hot!
