Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2–3 apples
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 packet of yeast, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
- In a small saucepan, gently heat 1 cup of milk until warm but not boiling. Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, stirring until melted.
- Add the warm milk mixture to the dry ingredients. Then, add 2 eggs and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, peel and slice 2-3 apples. In a bowl, mix the apple slices with 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg. Set aside.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices and place them in a greased baking dish, cut side up.
- Cover the dish with a towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a bowl, mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Drizzle over the warm cake once it’s out of the oven.
