- 3 cups apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- a pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of softened butter, 1 cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Beat until creamy.
- Gradually mix in 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of rolled oats, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Peel, core, and slice about 3 cups of apples. Toss them in a bowl with 2 tablespoons of sugar and an additional teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Fold the apples into the batter evenly.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it out evenly with a spatula.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting.
