Ingredients
- Frozen waffle fries
- Lean ground beef (about 85-90% lean)
- Beef bacon
- Sharp cheddar cheese
- Monterey Jack cheese
- Yellow or white onion
- Fresh minced garlic
- Chili powder
- Cumin
- Smoked paprika
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Green onions
- Sour cream
- Jalapeños
- BBQ sauce (optional)
- Hot sauce (optional)
- Ranch dressing (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to the temperature recommended on your waffle fries package, usually around 400°F (200°C). If using an air fryer, follow its instructions, typically around 375°F (190°C).
- Arrange the frozen waffle fries in a single layer on a large baking sheet (or in your air fryer basket). Bake or air fry according to package directions, usually 20-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- While the fries are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef bacon strips and cook until crispy, about 5-8 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and crumble into small pieces.
- In the same skillet, add the diced onion and sauté over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until fully browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to toast the spices.
- Once the waffle fries are crispy, transfer them back onto the baking sheet. Spread half of the cooked ground beef over the fries, then sprinkle half of your cheese blend over the beef.
- Layer the remaining ground beef on top, followed by the rest of the cheese. Place the baking sheet back into the oven for about 5-8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the crumbled beef bacon over the top. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot with sour cream and jalapeños on the side.
