Refreshing Mango Strawberry Agua Fresca: A Summer Delight

  • Author: lila
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Mango Strawberry Agua Fresca is a vibrant and refreshing drink that perfectly balances the sweetness of ripe mangoes with the tartness of fresh strawberries. It’s an easy-to-make, hydrating beverage that captures the essence of summer in every sip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe mangoes (Ataulfo or Alphonso recommended)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries
  • 4 cups filtered water (divided)
  • Agave nectar or simple syrup (to taste, optional)
  • Juice of 1 fresh lime
  • Pinch of fine sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. First things first, let’s get those fruits ready. Give your strawberries a good rinse under cool water, then hull them by removing the green tops.
  2. For the mangoes, peel them carefully using a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife. Then, slice the flesh away from the pit and dice it into roughly 1-inch chunks.
  3. Transfer your prepared mango and strawberry chunks to a high-speed blender.
  4. Add about half of your filtered water, your chosen sweetener (if using), and the fresh lime juice. Don't forget that optional pinch of salt.
  5. Secure the lid and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and no large fruit chunks remain.
  6. Place a fine-mesh sieve over a large pitcher or bowl and carefully pour the blended fruit mixture through the sieve.
  7. Use the back of a spoon or a rubber spatula to press down on the solids in the sieve, extracting as much liquid as possible. Discard the remaining pulp and seeds.
  8. Give your strained agua fresca a good stir and pour a small amount into a glass for a taste test.
  9. Adjust sweetness with more sweetener if needed, or add another squeeze of fresh lime juice for more zing.
  10. Gradually stir in the remaining filtered water until you reach your desired consistency and flavor balance.
  11. Transfer the agua fresca to your serving pitcher and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  12. When ready to serve, fill glasses with plenty of ice and pour your chilled Mango Strawberry Agua Fresca over the ice. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice, a mango cube, or a sprig of mint or basil.
