Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of flank steak
- 8 ounces of rotini pasta
- 3 tablespoons of honey
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, rice vinegar, and ground ginger. Whisk until well blended.
- Season the flank steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Place the seasoned steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or for 2-4 hours for deeper flavor.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the rotini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes).
- Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest. Rinse the pasta briefly under cold water and set aside.
- Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
- Cook the marinated steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).
- Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes.
- Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.
- In the same skillet, add the cooked rotini pasta. If dry, add a splash of reserved pasta water.
- Pour any remaining marinade from the steak over the pasta and toss gently to coat. Add more reserved pasta water if needed.
- Add the sliced steak to the pasta and toss again to combine.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve in bowls or on plates, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
- Enjoy your delicious honey garlic steak rotini!
Notes
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of water or broth to keep the pasta moist.
