Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of flank steak
  • 8 ounces of rotini pasta
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, rice vinegar, and ground ginger. Whisk until well blended.
  2. Season the flank steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Place the seasoned steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or for 2-4 hours for deeper flavor.
  5. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the rotini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes).
  6. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest. Rinse the pasta briefly under cold water and set aside.
  7. Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
  8. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  9. Cook the marinated steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).
  10. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes.
  11. Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.
  12. In the same skillet, add the cooked rotini pasta. If dry, add a splash of reserved pasta water.
  13. Pour any remaining marinade from the steak over the pasta and toss gently to coat. Add more reserved pasta water if needed.
  14. Add the sliced steak to the pasta and toss again to combine.
  15. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
  16. Serve in bowls or on plates, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  17. Enjoy your delicious honey garlic steak rotini!

Notes

  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of water or broth to keep the pasta moist.
  • For meal prep, marinate the steak and cook the pasta ahead of time, combining everything just before serving.
