Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 large Eggs
- Red Gel Food Coloring
- Green Gel Food Coloring
- Powdered Sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Set this mixture aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of unsalted butter (softened), 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup of brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in 2 large eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Then, add your red food coloring until you reach your desired shade. Mix thoroughly.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Once combined, divide the dough into two portions. To one half, add green food coloring and mix until the dough is evenly colored.
- Cover both portions of dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- After chilling, scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the red and green dough. Roll them into balls and then roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
- Place the coated dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
