Description

This Sticky Honey Chicken is sweet, savory, and so easy to make! Tender, juicy chicken pieces are lightly pan-fried and coated in a glossy, sticky honey sauce that’s ready in just 25 minutes. It’s the perfect quick weeknight dinner to pair with rice and veggies for a comforting, homemade meal everyone will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs (or breasts), cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1/2 cup flour (for dredging)

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 23 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Sticky Honey Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or rice vinegar)

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, for a thicker sauce)

Optional Garnishes:

  • Sesame seeds

  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss chicken pieces in flour, salt, and pepper until coated. Shake off excess.

  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  3. Cook the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  4. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, and garlic.

  5. Pour sauce into the same skillet, bring to a simmer, and cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

  6. If using, add cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce further.

  7. Return chicken to the pan and toss to coat in the sticky honey sauce.

  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving!

Notes

  • Fry chicken in batches if needed to avoid crowding the pan.

  • Adjust sweetness by adding a little more honey if you like it extra sweet.

  • Add a sprinkle of chili flakes if you like a bit of heat.

  • Leftovers are amazing — just reheat gently with a splash of water or broth to loosen the sauce.

  • You can also bake the chicken if preferred — 400°F for about 20–22 minutes!
