Ingredients
-
1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs (or breasts), cut into bite-sized pieces
-
1/2 cup flour (for dredging)
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1/4 tsp black pepper
-
2–3 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Sticky Honey Sauce:
-
1/3 cup honey
-
1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
-
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or rice vinegar)
-
1 tbsp ketchup
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, for a thicker sauce)
Optional Garnishes:
-
Sesame seeds
-
Chopped green onions
Instructions
-
In a bowl, toss chicken pieces in flour, salt, and pepper until coated. Shake off excess.
-
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Cook the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, and garlic.
-
Pour sauce into the same skillet, bring to a simmer, and cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
-
If using, add cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce further.
-
Return chicken to the pan and toss to coat in the sticky honey sauce.
-
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving!
Notes
-
Fry chicken in batches if needed to avoid crowding the pan.
-
Adjust sweetness by adding a little more honey if you like it extra sweet.
-
Add a sprinkle of chili flakes if you like a bit of heat.
-
Leftovers are amazing — just reheat gently with a splash of water or broth to loosen the sauce.
-
You can also bake the chicken if preferred — 400°F for about 20–22 minutes!
