  • Author: Lila
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy a delightful twist on a classic with this Chicken Cordon Bleu Stromboli, featuring juicy chicken, savory ham, and a melty cheese blend, all encased in golden pizza dough. Perfect for family dinners or gatherings, this dish is both impressive and satisfying!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 package (1 lb) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken and season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until no longer pink and golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, diced ham, Swiss cheese, and mozzarella cheese. Mix until well combined. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. If using store-bought pizza dough, let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes. If making your own, roll it out on a floured surface to about 12×16 inches.
  6. Transfer the rolled dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Spread the chicken and cheese filling evenly over the dough, leaving about an inch of space around the edges.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from one of the long edges, tucking in the edges to seal the filling inside. Pinch the seam to seal and tuck the ends under.
  9. Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on the baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg.
  10. Make a few diagonal slits on top of the Stromboli to allow steam to escape.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  13. Slice into thick pieces, about 1-2 inches wide, and arrange on a serving platter. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients, such as different cheeses or vegetables.
  • Serve with marinara sauce or a side salad for a complete meal.
