Description

Baked Honey BBQ Chicken features juicy chicken thighs marinated in a sweet and tangy honey BBQ sauce, making it a perfect dish for family dinners or gatherings. Easy to prepare and packed with flavor, this recipe is sure to impress your guests!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine honey, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth and well blended.
  2. Place chicken thighs in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 4 to 6 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking dish with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and lightly grease it with cooking spray or olive oil. Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and reserve the marinade.
  4. Place chicken thighs skin-side up in the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the chicken and brush a generous amount of the reserved marinade over each thigh. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy.
  5. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Optionally, sprinkle fresh parsley over the top for added freshness.
  6. Serve the baked honey BBQ chicken with your favorite sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or roasted vegetables. Drizzle any remaining sauce from the baking dish over the chicken for extra flavor.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or a splash of hot sauce to the marinade.
  • Boneless chicken can be used, but adjust cooking time as they may cook faster.
  • Experiment with different BBQ sauces to find your favorite flavor combination.
