Ingredients
2 medium apples, peeled and diced
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon melted butter
For the glaze:
½ cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat your waffle maker and lightly grease it.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
3. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth.
4. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
5. Spoon the batter into the preheated waffle maker, filling each section. Close the lid and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes.
6. While the donuts cook, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze until smooth.
7. Drizzle the glaze over the warm waffle donuts. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
– Any crisp apple variety like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp works great.
– For extra sweetness, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before glazing.
– Let the donuts cool slightly before glazing to avoid the glaze melting too much.
– These are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the toaster.
